A love letter from you to you this Valentines Day.

For a while now, I've pondered self love at valentines day. So, I thought I'd write a love letter to you - well I hope you'll read it from you to you...

I hope you can read it to yourself and remind yourself of all your magic today and I hope that these words will remind you that you deserve love in every moment.

Dear ..........

I promise to love you in the gaps.

The gaps where your self worth crumbles and your mind forgets the truth that your value never lived in fleeting notions of success, or failure, but it believes - in those messy gaps - so strongly that it does.

The gaps where it seems nothing is clicking into place… Where others overtake you in the invisible, human-invented race and you notice every single one jogging on by to a place out of reach, a place you dream of, while your feet feel glued to the spot. The same spot you’ve inhabited for what feels like an eternity now. But this spot, this place, is one you’ve made so beautiful throughout your time there, one you’ve learnt so much about, and one that others dream of more than you know. And although you hope that this little spot might one day become a springboard to new things, that your feet might become free again (and I hope the same for you too)... for now, remember, you’re exactly where you’re meant to be and I promise to love you right here, right now.

So many beautiful pursuits in life are a slow burn, although your mind can jump to the destination so quickly, the world around you takes its time, things often take so much longer than you imagine. I promise to love you for the long haul and for each restless, impatient moment on the way.

Successes and failures come and go and the highs and lows feel the same in the end, both detached from the spark that set you on your way at the beginning, irrelevant to the reason you first connected with that thing which brought you joy. It all began with love you see, and that’s where you’ll come home to. I promise to remind you to start there each time you lose your way.

It was your heart playing a tune believing it could be fun to keep playing, to see how it turns out, where it could go, what you could learn and how you could connect to this world through magical ways. What you once called play, sometimes now feels pressured. I promise to love you so that the pressure lessens and the play returns.

These magical experiences of challenge, frustration, learning, creation and breakthroughs feel more connected and alive than any praise or criticism that follows on. This I know, and yet I promise to love you whatever follows on, to remind you how much you learnt in those challenging moments and that the truest joy was overcoming all of this for yourself.

When it feels pointless, impossible or when you forget why you began, lighten your heart and pack some snacks for the long road. It might never lead to where you think, and that could be wonderful not overwhelming.  It might glow brighter than you ever hoped. But even if it doesn’t, I know that for loving you even more each day in these messy gaps along the journey, that you will glow brighter than you could ever imagine and this beautiful heart of yours will feel like home. 💛x
