If Christmas Is Hard 
A Christmas card featuring the poem below which I wrote for anyone struggling at Christmas following a bereavement or loss.

If Christmas is hard
If you lost someone dear
Just look in your heart
And you'll know they're still here
The star in the sky
The light falling snow
The robin outside
It seems like they know
If this is a time 
when you're struggling through
Just do what you can
For what matters is you
There's no need to be merry
No need to be bright
Just do what you can
It will all be alright

I wrote and illustrated this poem in December 2019, knowing that Christmas can be a difficult time of year following a loss or bereavement. It was shared by the charity Your Voice Cornwall on their Facebook page, from there it was shared over 50k times and thousands of heartbreaking comments started pouring in.

 

I sat in my pjs beside my Christmas tree on December 23rd heartbroken at how many people were suffering and replying with condolences to as many comments as I could. Seeing how much comfort these words were bringing at a difficult time, I immediately decided to make it into a card and print in 2020 to raise money for Your Voice and spread comfort to those who needed it. I was blown away by the response to these words. If you need them this Christmas, I'm sending you love. x
